Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2019 1-cent WDDO-008, this Lincoln Shield Cent obverse exhibits extra thickness on the letters of LIBERTY, with a telling diagnostic detail: the upper left of the Y is thicker than the upper right, indicating a directional hub displacement that produced asymmetric thickening across the letter's fork. A small die gouge inside the upper Y of LIBERTY provides an additional obverse attribution marker. The reverse of this coin is also a documented doubled die — listed as 2019 1-cent WDDR-001 — showing moderate doubling on both sets of designer's initials, making this another prized combination variety where both dies in the pair carry hub doubling. A die chip on the top left of the reverse shield north of the P in PLURIBUS further documents the reverse die.
