2019 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

2019 WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse on the 2019 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows extra thickness; the date shows no doubling. Wexler records two stages. On the Stage A obverse, light scratches head NE from the right sides of the R and T in LIBERTY; a scratch runs from the rim over the N of IN, on its right side, to the G of GOD at its lower left; and a scratch heads NE from the lower nose. On the Stage B obverse, the light scratches at the R and T are still visible. On the Stage A reverse, a scratch crosses the I of UNITED at its upper left side. On the Stage B reverse, a crack follows the shield's top above PLUR, with a chip above the first U of PLURIBUS. Steve Young submitted Stage A and Christopher Hurley Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that the original 2019 WDDO-019 listing proved to be an earlier stage of the same die and was merged into this listing.
