2019 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-013 / DDO-002

Description

DDO-002, which Wexler numbers WDDO-013, is a 2019 Lincoln Shield cent with a doubled die obverse showing medium extra thickness on the date and a lighter amount on the RTY of LIBERTY. Wexler lists Coppercoins 2019P-1DO-008; VarietyVista gives no cross-reference. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes moderate extra thickness on the date and slight thickness on LIBERTY, and credits Robert L. Adams III as the submitter. On the obverse a die crack starts at the front of the eyebrow and climbs north-northwest across the forehead, and three small die gouges sit on the lower front of the vest, southwest of the 2 in the date. On the reverse a die crack heads south-southwest from the O in ONE, starting at that letter's lower left. Wexler notes that the die first listed as WDDO-016 turned out to be this same die and was folded into this entry. VarietyVista credits Robert Adams, III with the report. Under its marker codes UVC-3467 and DMR-003 it lists stage B with a die crack on the forehead and in the upper hair and a light die crack running southwest from the O of ONE, both at a late-middle die state, along with a light die crack running vertically through the T of CENT on its right side. Stage A (early die state) and stage C (late die state) are unconfirmed.
