2018 (P) Cumberland Island National Seashore Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2018-P GA WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2018-P Cumberland Island National Seashore quarter (Georgia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Minor doubling appears on the front of the snowy egret's left leg. On the obverse, a chip sits on top of the F in JF (the designer's initials), and a crack runs SW from it through the J before turning south toward the left side of the O in DOLLAR. On the reverse, a large chip lies at the tip of the left wing's top feather; from it, a light crack follows the top edge of that feather, and another crack runs north along the rim's edge before curving back into the field. Paul A. Sasso submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one; the first WDDR-002 turned out to be WDDR-001 in a later die state.
