2016 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-008

Description

2016 WDDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the 2016 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The letters of LIBERTY show strong extra thickness, with notches at the lower left of the ERTY, and the date shows light extra thickness. Obverse markers: a small gouge between the top of the N of IN and the G of GOD; two gouges right of the upper part of the 6 in the date; a crack that leaves the eyebrow and runs NNW through the forehead, continuing into the hair over the forehead's front, where a large chip also sits; an E/W crack with two chips crossing the hair on top of the head; and a vertical crack in the hair at the head's back. Reverse markers: a small gouge right of the M in AMERICA, near its top; a crack along the shield's top left with a large chip above the UR of PLURIBUS; a chip on the shield's top right above the S of PLURIBUS; and chips on ONE, at the bottom right of the N, the lower left of the E and the bottom right of the E. Charles D. Hudson submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
