Description
This 2016 Jefferson Nickel, designated VDDR-005 through VarietyVista's verification system, exhibits medium spread to the south producing an extra left central doorway roof on the Monticello reverse. The VDDR prefix indicates this variety awaits formal UVC/DMR code assignment while its identification has been confirmed. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the southward spread creates a secondary horizontal line below the original doorway roof edge, doubling the upper contour of the central entrance to Thomas Jefferson's estate. The Monticello reverse's compact architectural detail renders the doorway roof as a short horizontal element sensitive to vertical hub displacement. Collectors examining 2016 nickels should focus on the central doorway area under magnification, looking for the duplicated roof line below the main entrance.
