Description

At seventy documented doubled die reverses, the 2015 (P) Homestead National Park Quarter had already surpassed most coin designs in DDR variety count, and the number would eventually climb past 135. WDDR-070 was attributed by the Wexler Team from a Philadelphia Mint die whose hub impression was not perfectly centered. This coin belongs to the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series, and its reverse design pays tribute to the Homestead National Historical Park near Beatrice, Nebraska. The scene of a log cabin, fence, crops, and windmill recalls the transformative Homestead Act signed by President Lincoln in 1862, which granted free land to citizens willing to cultivate it. The fine architectural and agricultural details in the design acted as natural indicators of even minor hub displacement, making discoveries possible for collectors with a good loupe and patience. Each DDR die produced a finite number of coins before being retired, meaning each variety has a limited population. The Wexler Variety ID for this entry is 2015-P 25¢ NE WDDR-070.
