2015 (P) Homestead National Monument of America Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-045

Description

Light northeast spread produces a partial extra water pump image in window R3 on the Homestead National Monument quarter, cataloged as DDR-045 in the America the Beautiful Quarters series (2010-2021). VarietyVista assigns die markers UVC-2144 and DMR-046, with Stage A showing both reverse and obverse in Early Die State (EDS) and Stages B and C unconfirmed. The 2015 Homestead quarter, honoring the Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska, was the 26th release in the ATB program and depicts a log cabin homestead with ears of corn and a water pump — the design includes several small window panes designated R1 through R4 by variety researchers as reference zones for documenting hub doubling. Window R3 sits in the cabin wall area, and the water pump visible near the cabin provides a clear reference element where the northeast spread on DDR-045 becomes detectable. The America the Beautiful Quarters program featured five different reverse designs each year through 2020 (one in 2021), and the complex pictorial scenes — far more detailed than the simple eagle reverses of earlier quarter series — created numerous opportunities for hub doubling to manifest in identifiable ways. Ronald D. Sanders designed the Homestead reverse, which was sculpted by Jim Licaretz. DDR-045's high catalog number indicates the depth of variety documentation for this particular design, reflecting the systematic die-by-die examination that VarietyVista contributors perform across the ATB series.
