2015 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-033
Error
Description
Depicting the Palmer-Epard Cabin at Homestead National Monument in Nebraska, this America the Beautiful quarter doubled die reverse shows a medium south spread visible in window R2 of the cabin design. The R2 window designation follows the systematic labeling used by variety researchers to precisely locate doubling on the architectural elements of the Homestead design. Cataloged by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-2132 and DMR-034, three die stages are documented: Stage A at early die state, Stage B at early-to-mid die state with a depression along the lower right roof and the obverse at early-to-mid die state, and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). The Stage B notation of a depression along the roof adds a progressive die deterioration marker. This 2015 Philadelphia Mint quarter is part of the America the Beautiful series (2010-2021), which featured John Flanagan's Washington obverse paired with annually rotating reverse designs honoring national sites. Thirty-three DDRs for the Homestead design alone demonstrates the collector enthusiasm these rotating designs generated for variety research.
