2015 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-031

Description

Documented by VarietyVista with die identifiers UVC-2130 and DMR-032, this 2015 America the Beautiful Quarter DDR-031 exhibits light spread in a west-southwest direction visible in window R2 — using the standardized window identification system for the Homestead National Monument reverse design, where R2 designates a specific window position within the depicted homestead building. Three die stages provide a progression from fresh to failing: Stage A records both reverse and obverse in early die state (EDS), Stage B at mid-die-state (MDS, unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state featuring a large die break along the upper left roof and a long depression along the upper right roof, with the obverse also at LDS. The dramatic Stage C deterioration — with structural failure on both sides of the roof — documents a die in its final production phase before retirement, and specimens from this stage would show both the DDR doubling in the window and the extensive die damage on the building's roofline. The 2015 Homestead National Monument of America Quarter, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program (2010-2021), features a reverse designed by Ronald D. Sanders depicting the Palmer-Epard Cabin, a pioneer homestead representative of the Homestead Act of 1862. The obverse carries John Flanagan's Washington portrait.
