Description

Honoring the site of one of the first claims under the Homestead Act of 1862, the Homestead National Monument quarter's reverse features a log cabin with a water pump — pioneer architecture that translates hub displacement into evocative secondary impressions. This DDR-018 on the 2015 Philadelphia Mint issue presents medium spread to the east producing an extra window and to the north producing an extra partial water pump in window L3, a pane in the left column of the window grid. The dual-direction spread creates ghost images of two distinct architectural elements simultaneously, making this variety particularly interesting for its multi-element doubling.
