2015 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-018

Description

Depicting one of the first claims under the Homestead Act of 1862, the Homestead National Monument quarter's reverse features a log cabin with a water pump — pioneer architecture that translates hub displacement into evocative secondary impressions. This DDR-018 on the 2015 Philadelphia Mint issue presents medium spread to the east producing an extra window and to the north producing an extra partial water pump in window L3, the left window third from center. The dual-direction spread creates ghost images of two distinct architectural elements simultaneously, making this variety particularly interesting for its multi-element doubling. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-2117 and DMR-019, the reverse is documented in early die state in Stage A, with mid and late die states noted though unconfirmed.
