Description

The 2013 (P) Presidential Dollar - William McKinley, Position B is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 4.8 million examples, making this ranked 11th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 7% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-fifth President (1897–1901), William McKinley led the nation to victory in the Spanish-American War of 1898, establishing the United States as a world power. He was assassinated in 1901 at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson were honored in collector-only format. The Roosevelt dollar is popular with collectors due to his role in modernizing American coin design. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792.
