Description

Produced at the Denver Mint, the 2013 (D) Presidential Dollar - Theodore Roosevelt, Position B is part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's 3.9 million total for the 2013 (D) Theodore Roosevelt dollar counts both edge orientations combined, so the number with the Position B edge is unknown. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-sixth President (1901–1909), Theodore Roosevelt became the youngest person to assume the presidency at age 42 and was a champion of progressive reform, conservation, and the Panama Canal. A passionate numismatist, he personally commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign U.S. gold coinage. McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson were honored in collector-only format. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906.
