Description

The 2013 (D) Presidential Dollar - Theodore Roosevelt, Position A represents a Denver Mint issue from the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint reported 3.9 million Theodore Roosevelt dollars from Denver for 2013 as a whole; no separate count of Position A edges exists. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-sixth President (1901–1909), Theodore Roosevelt became the youngest person to assume the presidency at age 42 and was a champion of progressive reform, conservation, and the Panama Canal. A passionate numismatist, he personally commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign U.S. gold coinage. McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson were honored in collector-only format. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #517692.
