2013 (P) Mount Rushmore National Memorial Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-014

Description

2013-P SD WDDR-014 is a doubled die reverse on the 2013-P Mount Rushmore National Memorial quarter (South Dakota) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the lower nose of Thomas Jefferson. The obverse is itself a doubled die, Wexler's 2013-P SD WDDO-002, with light extra thickness on LIBERTY and slight notching on its lower right serifs. Its markers: a N/S scratch before the eye; a gouge SE of the designer's initials JF; a small gouge between the lower parts of LIBERTY's T and Y; and a small one between GOD's G and O. Reverse markers: a pair of gouges under the rightmost scaffolding; a small gouge over the F of the designer's initials JFM; and a gouge beside the top of the leftmost scaffolding post, on its left. Jonathan Trombley submitted the variety; the additional photos show a coin sent in by George W. Powell, Jr. Wexler lists no cross-references.
