Description

2013-P SD WDDR-019 is a doubled die reverse on the 2013-P Mount Rushmore National Memorial quarter (South Dakota) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the lower nose of Thomas Jefferson. Obverse markers: left of the designer's initials JF lies a large die chip, and a thin crack runs E from it through the letters. There is a gouge between the upper parts of LIBERTY's R and T, one over the left side of DOLLAR's O, and one inside UNITED's U; another touches the left side of AMERICA's M, and a small gouge lies between the bottoms of GOD's O and D. Reverse markers: a crack running N off the right foot of the suspended worker; an E/W scratch before Jefferson's left eye; a gouge beside the top of the leftmost scaffolding post, on its left; a small gouge beneath Washington's nose; and a gouge inside Jefferson's left eye. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this is a replacement listing: the first WDDR-019 turned out to be an earlier stage of the WDDR-011 die.
