2013 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

The America the Beautiful Quarters program, spanning 2010 through 2021, produced 56 designs across twelve years, and the 2013-P Mount Rushmore issue generated a remarkable concentration of doubled die reverse varieties including this WDDR-003. South Dakota's Mount Rushmore National Memorial was selected to represent the state in the ATB series, showcasing the colossal granite sculpture that has become one of America's most recognized landmarks since its completion in 1941. Joseph Menna's reverse design captures the four presidential portraits carved into the mountain with fidelity to the actual monument. The large number of cataloged DDRs for this issue likely reflects high Philadelphia Mint production volume combined with the complex reverse design, which provided numerous reference points where subtle doubling could be detected.
