Description
Doubling shows on the lower part of Thomas Jefferson’s nose. Die Markers: Obverse: Die gouge below the ear. Two small die gouges above the right side of the Y in LIBERTY. Large die gouge right of the left upright of the U in QUARTER. Die gouge left of the right upright of the U in UNITED. Die gouge in the upper opening of the N in UNITED. Reverse: Die gouge left of the designer's initials JFM. Two weak die gouges in the field below the R in RUSHMORE. Die gouge right of Jefferson's nostril. Small die gouge touches the top of the suspended worker's hat.
