2012 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

Discovered by Andrew Miller, the 2012 Philadelphia Mint Presidential Dollar Benjamin Harrison Position A variety WDDR-001 documents hub doubling on the Statue of Liberty reverse common to the Presidential Dollar series. The reverse die markers include diagnostics above the W in WE and below the E in AMERICA, providing spatially separated confirmation points across the reverse legend. The Presidential Dollar program, running from 2007 through 2016, featured a common Statue of Liberty reverse paired with rotating obverse portraits of each president. Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd president serving from 1889 to 1893, appears on the obverse of this 2012 issue. Position A designates the die orientation where the obverse portrait is upright relative to the edge lettering. Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this doubled die reverse creates secondary impressions on the Statue of Liberty design elements. The manganese brass clad composition of the Presidential Dollar provides a distinctive golden color.
