First cataloged reverse cud for the 2007-P Idaho State Quarter, this variety documents die rim failure on a reverse featuring a Peregrine Falcon soaring above the state outline with the motto "Esto Perpetua" (Let It Be Perpetual). The ID suffix in the catalog number identifies the state design, distinguishing this reverse from the standard Washington eagle used before the State Quarter program. A cud forms when a die rim section fractures and separates entirely, leaving a cavity that fills with metal during striking to produce a raised featureless mass at the coin's edge.
