2002-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006

Description

Struck at the Denver Mint, this 2002 Lincoln Memorial cent carries reverse doubling visible on the left side of the seventh column, along with a slightly doubled right knee displaced to the northeast of its normal position. The obverse die features an area of die damage above the mintmark and small die gouges appearing as dots below E and well above I in LIBERTY. Further dot-like gouges sit south of the G in GOD, below the lower right side of the D in GOD, and on the left side of Lincoln's jacket fold near the lapel. The reverse carries its own markers, including a die gouge near the rim above the T in UNITED and two small dot-like gouges above the second A in AMERICA abutting the rim. Cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 2002-D 1¢ WDDR-006, no cross-references to CONECA or other attribution systems have been established. The scattered die gouges across both dies serve as reliable secondary diagnostics that help confirm the attribution, particularly on examples where the column and knee doubling may be softened by wear.
