Description

The third documented 2000 Roosevelt Dime atypical die clash, ADC-10c-2000-03 shows a strong clashed die on the obverse and a significant clashed die reverse. Atypical die clashes differ from standard clashes in their unusual transfer patterns, often producing dramatic design element impressions in unexpected locations. On the obverse, parts of EP from E PLURIBUS UNUM, part of the O from ONE, and some olive branch leaves appear behind and on Roosevelt's face. The negative shape of the oak leaves is clearly visible below the ear, and parts of the torch flames appear below the chin. This multi-element clash transfers portions of at least four different reverse design features onto the obverse portrait area, creating an unusually complex overlap pattern that documents a significant clash event during production.
