The 1999 Dollar Patterns hold the Martha Washington dollar-size trials from the testing of the Sacagawea dollar planchets: manganese brass pieces with plain, notched and reeded edges (J-2185, J-2185a, J-2187) and a non-manganese alloy with dotted N's (J-2188). The Mint lent the test dies to contractors such as IDX Inc., PMX Industries, Schuler AG and Olin Brass Corporation (USPatterns.com).
