The 1945 Cent Patterns hold Pollock's P-2079, which NGC describes as a 1945 cent struck from regular dies in bronze on a thick planchet. The Mint's wartime cent experiments ended with the zinc-coated steel cent of 1943, and from 1944 to 1946 cents were struck in brass from melted shell cases (Wikipedia).
