Description
The 1997 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-001 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1997 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. Die markers: UVC-2456 DMR-002 Stage A: Die scratch in field next to the hair below the first T of TRUST – EDS Die chip at Left eave – EDS Die crack from upper Right Memorial to rim through I of AMERICA Die clash under left baseline UVC-2457 DMR-003 Stage B: Two small die gouges on inside rim under lapel – EMDS Reverse die changed – EDS Die gouge inside upper loop of the R of AMERICA Stage C: Obverse is MDS Reverse is EMDS Stage D: Obverse is LDS Die gouge inside upper loop of R of AMERICA is gone – MDS Stage E: Obverse is LDS Die break at Left eave – LDS.
