1996 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

1996-D WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 1996-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The statue's legs are doubled along their right side. On the obverse, a short gouge extends WSW off the I in LIBERTY at its upper left, and a small gouge lies right of the foot of the B in LIBERTY. A gouge sits just beneath the O in GOD, on its left side. Gouges lie over the D mint mark on both its left and right sides, and a gouge touches the vest front WSW of the D. On the reverse, feeder finger scratches run SW to NE beneath the U in UNITED, and others run NE off the N in UNITED at its upper right. More feeder finger scratches run NW to SE between the Memorial's base and the O in ONE. Several gouges lie right of the lower twelfth column, two gouges sit just under the right end of the Memorial, and a small gouge sits between the tops of the C and E in CENT. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
