Description

1996-D WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 1996-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The statue's legs show a spread to the west on their upper right side, and the right side of the sixth column, left of the statue, is also doubled. On the obverse, a small gouge lies under LIBERTY, between its B and E, a short vertical scratch sits left of the upper W in WE, and a gouge is in the field, well north of the date's 19. On the reverse, a vertical scratch lies left of the T in UNITED, and a gouge sits over the far end of the Memorial's right base. Two short vertical gouges lie right of the lower T in CENT, and a small gouge touches that T on its lower left side. A gouge sits left of the upper E in CENT, and another is above the right end of the bottom crossbar of the E in ONE. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Its Coppercoins number is 1996D-1DR-003.
