Description

The 1995-P Lincoln Memorial Cent WDDO-002 is cataloged as a Class V clockwise spread from a pivot at approximately the 3:00 position on the obverse. The doubling is visible across LIBERTY, the date, the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST, the front fold of the vest, and the front fold of Lincoln's shoulder. This variety is cross-referenced as CONECA 2-O-V, Crawford CDDO-002, and Coppercoins 1995P-1DO-002. The Wexler Variety ID is 1995 1¢ WDDO-002. The 1995 date is notable in Lincoln cent variety collecting primarily for the much-publicized WDDO-001, which became one of the most widely recognized doubled die cents of the modern era. The WDDO-002 is a less prominently publicized variety from the same year, providing collectors interested in the 1995 Philadelphia cent population with a secondary attribution to pursue. Die markers on both sides document this variety. On the obverse, a short die gouge is present west of the upper 1 in the date. On the reverse, two die gouges are present west of the lower left Memorial columns. The four cross-reference entries across CONECA, Crawford, Coppercoins, and Wexler make this one of the better-documented modern Lincoln cent doubled die varieties.
