Description

A strong Class V CCW spread from a pivot at about 4:00 shows on LIBERTY, IGWT, the hair at the top and back of the head especially around the ear, Lincoln’s eyelid, and slightly on the 19 of the date. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Small die gouge at vest south of first 9. Die gouge (dot) between two 9’s. Short die scratch NNE from hair midway between WE and TRUST. Obverse Stage B: Significant die pitting shows on the left side of the obverse, especially around LIBERTY. Obverse Stage C: Same as Stage B. Obverse Stage D: Numerous die scratches SW to NE throughout the obverse. A pre-die chip raised area in the lower R of LIBERTY. A small die chip on the upper left T of LIBERTY and a pre-die chip raised area on the left side of the T in LIBERTY. A small die chip on the upper inside of the 2nd 9. A die crack runs down the back of the ear to the neck and curves north through the hair. Die crack SSE from the back of the lower lip. Obverse Stage E: The die chip in the upper 2nd 9 is larger. Reverse Stage A: Rough die surface around NT of CENT and FG. Die gouge (dot) left of lower 2nd A in AMERICA. Die chips on upper 1st column and middle of 2nd column. Die crack on roof above 5th and 6th columns. Reverse Stage B: Same as Stage A. Reverse Stage C: Second reverse die. Small die gouge above left end of Memorial base. Short, vertical die scratch between lower O and N of ONE. Reverse Stage D: Third reverse die. Die scratch NNW from center left side of 2nd column. Short, vertical die scratch between A and T of STATES. Reverse Stage E: Short, vertical die gouge to left of upper 2nd A in AMERICA. Die gouge to right of bottom of E in STATES.
