1991 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

1991-D WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1991-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling appears as a vertical bar right of column 6, to the left of the statue's shoulder. On the obverse, two gouges (dots) sit between the N of IN and the G of GOD. Scratches oriented WNW-ESE cross the ERTY of LIBERTY, and a series of scratches heads SE from Lincoln's nose and forehead. On the reverse, below the FG initials a scratch runs mostly east-west. In the field above ONE there is a series of E-W scratches, and another series, mostly E-W, crosses the TED of UNITED. John Shields submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
