Description

WDDO-001, which VarietyVista numbers DDO-001, is a doubled die obverse on the 1983 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent with a clockwise spread pivoting from about 5 o'clock that shows on LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and, slightly, the date. Both catalogs give it the Cherrypickers number FS-101 (035); Wexler writes it FS-01-1983-101. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties notes nothing significant on either side in stage A. In stage B heavy die scratches run SE from the front of the bust, most of all under the nose, and on the reverse heavy scratches cross through and below the Memorial and through ONE CENT. Marvin L. Young submitted stage A and John A. Wexler stage B. Wexler also lists Breen #2309, Crawford CDDO-001 and CONECA 1-O-V. VarietyVista, crediting Neil Osina, describes the spread as strong on both LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, and uses marker codes UVC-2366 and DMR-002.
