1983 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003 / DDO-003

Description

DDO-003, which Wexler numbers WDDO-003, is a doubled die obverse on the 1983 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent showing a light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY, with the Cherrypickers' Guide designation FS-103 (035.2). Wexler writes the number FS-01-1983-103. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a clockwise spread from a pivot near 4 o'clock on the letters of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse a die scratch runs NNE through the field above the B of LIBERTY, another runs SSW from below the left side of the T, and die clash marks show at the left of the neck and at the shoulder right of the Y. The reverse is heavily abraded, with many die scratches, die cracks running from the lower left and lower right of the Memorial to the rim, and the lower parts of the E's in ONE CENT thinned by the abrading.
