1983 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002 / DDO-002

Description

DDO-002, which Wexler numbers WDDO-002, is a doubled die obverse on the 1983 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent with a medium spread on LIBERTY and the date. Both catalogs give it the Cherrypickers number FS-102 (035.1); Wexler writes it FS-01-1983-102. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a counterclockwise spread from a pivot near 12 o'clock on LIBERTY's letters and on the date. On the obverse a die scratch runs from the middle of the 8 to the middle of the 3; on the reverse die cracks run from the lower left and lower right of the Memorial to the rim. John A. Wexler submitted the coin. Wexler also cites Breen #2309 and CONECA 2-O-V. VarietyVista, crediting Neil Osina, uses two pairs of marker codes for this die: UVC-2367 with DMR-003, and UVC-2556 with DMR-014.
