Widely regarded as the premier 1982 reverse doubled die, DDR-001 exhibits a strong spread east on all design elements — including E PLURIBUS UNUM and the Memorial columns — earning the prestigious FS-1801 designation in the Fivaz-Stanton Cherrypickers' Guide. The variety appears on the zinc Small Date subtype, with obverse die ODV-032 confirming the small date punch style, and the zinc composition placing production after the mid-1982 changeover from the traditional 95% copper bronze to the copper-plated zinc format.
