1982 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Zinc Small Date - CU-1c-1982-18(SD) Cud

Description

CU-1c-1982-18(SD) is a cud on the 1982 Zinc Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent. Identifying the Zinc Small Date requires dual confirmation: a precision scale must register 2.5 grams to verify the zinc composition, and visual inspection of the date numerals must confirm the tighter spacing and slightly reduced proportions that distinguish the Small Date style from its Large Date counterpart. Neither test alone is sufficient, as the weight matches the Zinc Large Date while the date style matches the Bronze Small Date. The subtype-specific catalog's "(SD)" suffix explicitly encodes this date-style identification, providing an unambiguous reference for collectors and researchers who may encounter this variety in mixed accumulations where both date styles are present. This entry pairs with its bronze counterpart under the same census number. Attribution by Cuds on Coins.
