Sixth cataloged reverse cud for the 1976-D Bicentennial Washington Quarter, this variety originated from a different Denver Mint die than the fifth entry, confirming that at least six distinct reverse dies developed rim fractures during Bicentennial quarter production. Each cud represents a unique die failure where fracture location, size, and shape differ because independent breaks follow separate paths through the die steel based on localized stress. The dual-dated 1776-1976 Bicentennial quarter, bearing Jack Akers's Colonial Drummer reverse, was one of three denominations — alongside the half dollar and dollar — that received special reverse designs.
