The 1976 Washington Quarter (Bicentennial) is a United States cent from the Bicentennial Coins 1976 series. The obverse features the standard obverse for each denomination with dual dates 1776-1976, while the reverse displays special reverse designs: Colonial drummer boy (quarter), Independence Hall (half dollar), Liberty Bell and Moon (dollar). Designed by John Flanagan. 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. The 1976 Bicentennial Coins celebrated the 200th anniversary of American independence. Quarters, half dollars, and dollars all received special reverse designs and dual dates (1776-1976). Both copper-nickel clad and 40% silver versions were produced. Among the most recognized modern U.S. coins. The 40% silver versions in both proof and uncirculated finishes are collectible. Billions of clad versions were struck for circulation.
