Carrying the VarietyVista identifiers UVC-2998 and DMR-002, the 1975 DDO-001 is a doubled die obverse variety struck at the Philadelphia Mint without a mint mark — consistent with standard practice, as Philadelphia did not add a "P" mint mark to Lincoln cents until 1980. This variety exhibits light spread on the upper portions of the letters TY in LIBERTY, where the hub doubling created a subtle but measurable secondary impression alongside the primary design elements. Doubled die obverse varieties on Lincoln cents are created during the die manufacturing process when the hub — the master positive from which working dies are made — is impressed into the die blank at a slightly different angle or position between successive impressions.
