1975 Lincoln Memorial Cent - CU-1C-1975-07 Rim Cud

Description

Closing out this batch's coverage of the 1975 Philadelphia cud catalog, CU-1C-1975-07 is the seventh documented rim cud on Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial cents from this date. Titled as a "Rim Cud" in its original listing, this variety carries the explicit designation that the break occurred at the die's periphery. The Philadelphia Mint struck its 1975 cents without a mint mark, and the enormous output placed continuous mechanical demands on the die inventory that inevitably pushed some percentage of dies past their structural limits. Rim cuds from the Philadelphia 1975 date entered circulation alongside billions of normal cents, and examples can still surface through roll searching, bank bag hunting, and estate finds.
