1972 Eisenhower Dollar - Type 3 - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

1972 WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1972 Eisenhower dollar (Type 3), cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a Class I clockwise (CW) spread on USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA), ONE DOLLAR, the stars, the olive branch with its leaves, the designer's initials and the craters, with a slight spread on E PLURIBUS UNUM. Wexler notes master die doubling on the obverse. The reverse is a Type A reverse, marked by a strong scratch that crosses the G of FG from NE to SW and continues to the crater under it, and by a short WNW scratch off the upper left of DOLLAR's R. The variety was submitted by Thomas Kalantzis, and CONECA lists it as 1-R-I.
