Description
1972 WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1972 Eisenhower dollar (Type 2), cataloged by the Wexler team. The stars, ONE DOLLAR, USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA), the olive branch and leaves, the craters and the designer's initials show a Class I clockwise (CW) spread, which is slight on E PLURIBUS UNUM. Master die doubling appears on the obverse. Wexler identifies the reverse as Type A. Through the G in FG a strong NE-to-SW scratch runs on to the crater below, and from the upper left of the R in DOLLAR a short scratch heads WNW. Thomas Kalantzis submitted the variety. CONECA's listing is 1-R-I.
