1972 Kennedy Half Dollar - Variety WSDO-001

Description

1972 WSDO-001 is a series doubling obverse listing on the 1972 Kennedy half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is a light counterclockwise (CCW) spread from a pivot near 11:00, visible on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST (IGWT). According to Wexler, obverse and reverse markers differ from one affected working die to another. John A. Wexler submitted it; CONECA catalogs it as SD-1-O-II+V. Wexler notes the doubling was placed in use partway through 1971 and continued through the whole of 1972, and that it occurs on coins of all three mints.
