Description
The 1972 Kennedy Half Dollar represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 153,180,000 half dollars dated 1972. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $4 depending on grade and condition.
