1971 (D) Eisenhower Dollar - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1971-D WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1971-D Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close Class I clockwise (CW) spread shows on ONE DOLLAR, the 13 stars and USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA). On the obverse, a short diagonal gouge lies between the tops of TRUST's U and S, and the date's second 1 has a scratch heading ESE off its top right. The doubled reverse is on the "Four Island" reverse variety, and a gouge sits on the rim over AMERICA's E, toward its right side. Brian Vaile submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
