Description

Class II, Distorted Hub DoublingA close spread toward the center shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and FIVE CENTS, decreasing from left to right.  A very close spread shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM, also decreasing from left to right.  Doubling also shows on MONTICELLO. Die Markers: Obverse: Short vertical die gouge in upper portion of 9 of date. Reverse: Three slightly slanted die scratches in lower portion of right arch; two slightly slanted die scratches in upper portion of left arch; short vertical die gouge between first U and N of UNUM; short vertical die gouge above R of PLURIBUS.
