1970 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002

Description

Bearing Reverse Design Variety designations RDV-006 and RDV-007, the 1970 DDR-002 Washington quarter presents light spread on QUARTER DOLLAR, the lower branches, and the leaves, with a distinctive diagnostic: a pointed leaf overlapping a rounded leaf to the left of the arrow tips. Notches are also visible on the lower right portion of UNITED. The RDV designations indicate this die combines elements from two sequential reverse hub designs, which differ in subtle details of leaf shape and lettering profile — the pointed-over-rounded leaf juxtaposition is a direct artifact of this hub transition.
