1970 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

Listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-10-1970-801 and cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-V, the 1970 Roosevelt Dime WDDR-001 is a Class V clockwise pivoted hub doubling variety. The spread pivots from approximately the 6 o'clock position and shows on USA, the torch flame, and slightly on ONE DIME on the reverse. Attributed by the Wexler Team, this pivoted doubling produces a distinctive pattern where elements furthest from the pivot point display the strongest separation. No specific die markers have been noted on either the obverse or reverse. Class V varieties — where the hub and die are properly aligned at one point but rotated relative to each other — create a fan-like spread pattern that intensifies with distance from the pivot, making the top of the reverse (USA and the torch) the primary area for detection. This Cherrypickers' listing marks it as a variety worth searching for in circulation and mint sets from the 1970 Philadelphia issue.
