Description
1970-D WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1970-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class I counterclockwise (CCW) spread shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, QUARTER DOLLAR, the inside of the eagle's wings and the wreath. On the obverse, a scratch heads SE from the R of TRUST at its lower right. On the reverse, a scratch heads south from the F's lower bar in OF. Gary Wagnon submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-R-III+I. Cherrypickers listed it as FS-25-1970D-802 but removed it in the sixth edition. Wexler notes the variety turns up in 1970 Mint Sets. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
