Completing the quartet of short-description DDOs cataloged for the 1968 Philadelphia Lincoln cent, DDO-005 shows a medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST that continues the pattern of hub doubling concentrated on the obverse motto inscription. While the shared location of doubling on IN GOD WE TRUST across DDO-002, DDO-003, and DDO-005 might suggest these are related, each variety is defined by a unique working die with its own distinct hub doubling geometry and its own set of die markers. DDO-005 carries die markers UVC-3326 and DMR-006, numbers that place it in a different UVC and DMR sequence from the preceding varieties, confirming its origin from a separate die. The medium-spread designation for all four of these DDOs indicates that 1968 Philadelphia cent dies were susceptible to a consistent class of hubbing misalignment that repeatedly produced moderate doubling on the motto — possibly reflecting a specific characteristic of the hubbing press setup or hub alignment protocol in use at the Philadelphia Mint during this period.
