Description
1968-D WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1968-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extremely strong Class I counterclockwise (CCW) spread shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, QUARTER DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM, the wreath and both of the eagle's wing tips. Wexler notes no obverse markers. On the reverse, left of DOLLAR's A lies a diagonal scratch, a short scratch leaves the A of STATES at its bottom center, and a vertical scratch sits over the base of the L in PLURIBUS. Herbert Hicks submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-I, and Cherrypickers as FS-25-1968D-801. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
